- Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is issuing a Sources Sought Announcement for a Maintenance Dredging Project located in Wethersfield, Connecticut. This announcement is to determine the interest, availability and capability of HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned and Small Business concerns. The NAICS code for the work described below is 237990 with a Small Business Size Standard of $22,000,000. The project is planned to be issued on or about September 2013. The construction will occur in the winter of 2013-14 and is expected to take 4 to 6 weeks to complete. The estimated construction cost is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The Wethersfield Cove project consists of dredging a Federal navigation channel and anchorage 6 feet deep below mean lower low water (MLLW). Approximately 13,300 cubic yards of predominantly silt and very fine sand material will be dredged from the channel and anchorage areas. A mechanical dredge using clamshell buckets or dipper arm will remove material from the shoaled portions of Wethersfield Cove channel, and place it into dump scows. Scows will be towed to an in-river location approximately 12 miles south in the Connecticut River where material will be dumped at a previously used disposal site near Gildersleeve Island, Portland, CT. Dredging and disposal operations are anticipated to take 4 to 6 weeks, and will be performed during the period from December 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. Environmental coordination and permitting will be completed by the U.S. Army of Engineers, New England District. Interested firms should submit a capabilities package to include the following: business classification (i.e. HUBZone, etc.) as well as what type of equipment the firm is proposing to use. Additionally, firms should submit the types of prior experience they have. This experience must have been performed within the last five years. Responses are required no later than August 6, 2013. Responses should be addressed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - New England District; ATTN: Michael Stearns, Contracts Branch; 696 Virginia Road - Concord, MA 01742-2751. Responses shall be limited to twenty pages. Interested firms shall provide the above documentation in one original form and one copy. The Government will not pay for any material provided in response to this market survey nor return the data provided. This notice is for information purposes only and is not a request to be placed on a solicitation mailing list nor is it a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an announcement of a solicitation. The results of this survey will be considered to be in effect for a period of one year from the date of this notice.
