- Questions & Answers Question Number #1: What are the quantities of activated carbon required for one year's contract and specifications for the carbon and TCLP analysis of the spent carbon. What contaminants are you adsorbing and concentrations, flow rates, temperatures, %RH, dimensions and style of filters etc. Answer Number #1 - The following, in its entirety comprises the Governments response to this question: 1. Carbon quantity - See section 5.6.5. Comment - which states 8,000 pounds, based on past actual usage, with the full container holding up to 10,000 pounds. 2. Carbon adsorber specs - see attached document. 3. Carbon specifications are identified below. Vapor Phase Carbon: Each of these three (3) vapor phase carbon adsorption beds contains 10,000 pounds of carbon media having the following original characteristics. 1. Carbon Tetrachloride Activity Number, weight - 60% minimum 2. Iodine Number - not applicable 3. Real Density (He displacement)- 2.0 gm/cc. 4. Particle size (U.S. Sieve) Sieve & Size Retained +4 0-2 4/10 94-100 -10 0-5 4. Contaminants and flow rates - See Section 1.2. 5. Carbon adsorber inlet temp range 106 - 116 degrees F The response date has been extended to July 22, 2013; 4:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. No additional question or comments will be entertained.
