All information received in response to this RFI that is marked as proprietary will be handled accordingly. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI. This SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE is for market research purposes only to determine the availability of potential businesses with capabilities to provide the items described below. Potential offerors are invited to provide feedback via e-mail to Justin Blyth at william.blyth@va.gov. All responses will be used to determine the appropriate acquisition strategy for a potential future acquisition. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Boise VA Medical Center, Boise, ID, is requesting information in order to determine the existence of potential sources capable of providing the items listed below, or substantially similar items (new items only, not refurbished or remanufactured): 1)Leica TCS SP8 Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope Package Includes: a)Microscope Stand i)Inverted microscope stand ii)Motorized stage with universal holding frame, iii)Transmitted light brightfield detector, b)Objectives i)3 objectives (20x/0.70, 40x/1.30 Oil, 63x/1.40 Oil), ii)3 condenser prisms, c)Scan Head i)4 internal PMT detector channels, ii)4 Detectors (3 PMT, 1 HyD sensitive), iii)Low incident angle (LIAchroic) confocal beam splitter module, iv)Scan optics module, v)Field of view scanner, vi)Minimum resolution 8000 x 8000 vii)22 mm scan field d)Lasers i)Laser 50 mW 405 nm DMOD ii)Laser 20 mW 488 nm Blue iii)Laser 20 mW 552 nm Green iv)Laser 30 mW 638 nm Red e)Detector System i)Minimum 3 channel Spectral detection and 1 for transmitted light detection ii)Minimum 1 GaAsP Hybrid detector and at least 2 PMT detectors iii)Utilizes prism based spectral detection system iv)Independent and user adjustable gain v)Liquid cooled PMT vi)Active 200 degree scanning field rotation f)Microscope i)Inverted configuration ii)20x, 40x, and 63x objectives iii)Air suspension, anti-vibration microscope table g)Analysis System i)Scanning and image processing software ii)Able to separate different fluorescent signals iii)3-D visualization iv)Able to perform colocalization analysus of 2- and 3-channel images v)Able to perform analysis of FRAP, FLIP, and FRET experiments h)On-site installation and training i)Factory certified or trained technicians and trainers Potential contractors are asked to provide, at a minimum, the following information: 1)Offeror's name, address, point of contact name, phone number, and e-mail address. 2)Offeror's interest in submitting an offer on the solicitation when it is issued. 3)Company's DUNS number, business size, and type of small business if applicable. 4)Brief capability statement with enough information to determine if the company can meet the requirement. The Capabilities Statement for this sources sought is not expected to be a Request for Proposal or Invitation for Bid, nor does it restrict the Government to an ultimate acquisition approach, but rather short statement regarding the company's ability to provide the items listed above. Submission of capabilities statement will assist our office in tailoring the requirement to be consistent with industry standards. Please include in your statement: a.Whether you are the manufacturer or a manufacturer authorized reseller b.Your ability to provide after-sale support The Government must ensure there is adequate competition among the potential pool of available contractors. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only and is neither to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. All interested contractors should notify this office via email by 4:00 PM Mountain Time on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.
