There are a total of 27 heat detectors to be demolished along with approximately 1000' of corresponding conduit and wiring while ensuring that the other fire components in the Hangar remain operational at Cannon AFB, NM. Before demolition begins a certified Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) shall perform tests on the wet pipe system to identify any discrepancies or anomolies. A. Hanger 199 is a 3 bay hanger with ceiling heights that vary from 19'-50'. There are a total 27 heat detectors installed within the 3 bays, 9 of which are located in a paint booth possibly requiring the use of respirators. The detectors, along with associated wiring and conduit, shall be removed in their entirety to the termination point in the mechanical room, leaving no remnants of the system behind. The work includes modifying existing and providing new water flow indicators for interior fire alarm system. Installation and testing must conform to the applicable requirements of NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and NFPA 90A. Equipment and devices shall be compatible and operable in all respects, and shall in no way impair reliability or operational functions of the existing interior fire alarm system and the existing base fire alarm system. Existing base fire alarm system is a radio system. Materials and equipment to be furnished under this contract shall be the current design products of manufacturers regularly engaged in production of such equipment and shall be listed by the Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. in the UL Fire Prot Dir, or approved by Factory Mutual System and listed in FM P7825. B. Tests indicate that some of the heat detectors are wired in series with the pull stations, wet pipe system in the administrative offices, and with the high expansion foam (HEF) controls. A certified Fire Protection Engineer shall perform tests before demolition begins to check for any discrepancies or anomalies in the wet pipe system. The Contractor shall then provide an electrical schematic in the Demolition Plan (Red Lines on the GFI are acceptable) depicting how the heat detectors will be removed such that the above mentioned items will work properly once demolition is complete. The Demolition Plan shall include the Contractor's plan for ensuring the entire system will work (i.e. water flow valves or rewiring the pull stations). The contractor shall also provide redlined as-built plans or drawings in AutoCAD 2010 versions or later file showing where the termination of each of the utilities will stop. C. The Contractor shall ensure that, upon completion of removal of heat detection devices, the items mentioned in the sections A & B are in working condition.
