Description
Attachment 2 photo Interested Vendors please complete and return by closing date The intent of this Request for Information (RFI) is to locate those with the capability to provide the following services: Description: Green accordion folded flagging devices with cardboard backing. 3-3/4" wide, 48" unfolded (see picture in attachment 2). This aerial flagging device is needed for the Wildlife Services' Brown Treesnake Program in Guam. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and Wildlife Services' Aerial Application of Acetaminophen-treated Baits for Control of Brown Treesnakes Project is directly funded by Department of Defense, Environmental Security Technology Certification Program, (ESTCP). This project promotes innovative, cost-effective control of non-native invasive species on government lands and waters. The brown treesnake (Boiga irregularis) was accidentally introduced to Guam in the late 1940s or early 1950s, probably from the Solomon Islands. Native to northeastern Australia, eastern Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands, the brown treesnake has significantly damaged the economy and ecology of Guam. APHIS Wildlife Services coordinates operational efforts on Guam aimed at keeping the Brown Treesnake from reaching other destinations. Wildlife Services personnel use these flagging devices and attach dead neonatal mice that have been treated with acetaminophen to target brown treesnakes in high-risk cargo areas. These custom ordered, dimension specifications are tailored to allow for the bait to be disbursed via aerial application. Flagging allows for tracking of the visual reference and slows down the descent so the bait gets caught in the jungle canopy, resulting in reducing the risk to non-target species.
