Description
RE-ISSUE HOWELL CANYON HAND PILING PROJECT 2013 IN APPROXIMATELY 1 DAY, THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS COMMERCIAL SERVICE PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW AND PRINT. SCOPE OF WORK The purpose of this contract is to hand thin and hand pile in Unit 10A, 10B (98 acres) and Unit 9 B (40 acres) to reduce surface fuels, reduce canopy bulk density, increase the height to live crown, increase canopy base height, increase torching indexes at the 97th percentile, and reduce the continuity of the forest canopy. In unit 10Ca (3.5 acres) it will be a drop, lop and scatter of all conifers except Douglas-fir > 14"dbh. Douglas-fir greater than > 14" will be pruned up to 6 feet in height. This treatment will act as a fuel break to help protect Bennett Springs Campground from a fire starting below it. In Unit 10 D (240 acres) this treatment will be a drop, lop, and scatter in order to prevent a crown fire running through the canopy. It will remove ladder fuels <7.9' dbh and retain some ladder fuels for stocking levels. LOCATION The project is located approximately 7 miles southwest of Albion, Idaho on the Albion Division of the Minidoka District of the Sawtooth National Forest. The area can be accessed by Forest Road 549, off of Idaho Highway 77. The general area is known as the Howell Canyon Recreational Complex. The proposed treatment area includes portions of the following: T13S, R24E, and Sections 5, 6 and T12S R24E Sections 31, 32 and 33. CONTACT STEVE CLEZIE AT (208) 678-0430 FOR MORE INFORMATION. The period of performance will be from approximately August 12, 2013 through August 12, 2014 excluding months December through March. NAICS Code: 115310 Size Standard: $17.5. This proposed procurement is a TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS set-aside.
