Description
The work is for emergency repairs to a federally owned dam at the recreation area. No Army Corp or DEP permits are required for repairs to the dam and spillway structures. Work outside of this scope is not included in this contract.Vegetation Removal Remove all vegetation from masonry structures and spillway. Trimming alone is not acceptable. Roots must be removed. Do not use herbicides. Damaged Spillway Apron Repair (Eastside) Remove existing concrete apron including sections not previously moved by flooding - approximately 6.3 feet wide by 46 feet long by 12 inches deep. The existing apron may be broken and utilized as riprap below the rock paving or as rubble fill under the new slab. Pieces used for riprap shall not be larger than 1.5 feet; pieces used for rubble fill shall not be larger than 4 inches. Cut off any exposed steel reinforcement to prevent safety hazard. Prepare subgrade under new apron. AASHTO #24: fill eroded areas with coarse, free-draining crushed stone without fines. Replace concrete apron. Dowel upstream edge into spillway. Provide mesh reinforcement. Re-set displaced large rock riprap below concrete apron. Damaged Spillway Apron Repair Other Areas Grout voids. Replace missing concrete at gate chute area. Masonry Stone Wall Repair Cleaning: Use pressure washing to remove loose mortar and clean out joints. Fill deep holes and voids. Replace stonework where missing. Pack deeper crevices with a crumbly damp weak cement mortar. Use pumped concrete grout for large voids where feasible. Re-pointing masonry.Pointing is considered the last 1-1/2" from the face.Dimensions from 1934 Drawing: Must be field verified. Upstream: 85 feet long on each side. Downstream: 65 feet long on each side. Outlet Gate Pier: 38 feet perimeter. SITE VISIT IS SCHEDULED FOR 08/02/2013 @ 1:00pm
