- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID), Division of Scientific Resources, Biotechnology Core Facility intends to award, on a sole basis, a purchase order to Illumina, Inc. of San Diego, CA for the purchase of a DNA sequencing system. The purpose of this procurement is to provide the Genome Sequencing Laboratory (GSL) the capability to expand and improve the quality of sequencing genomes of pathogens through the automation of next generation sequencing library production from microbe genomic DNA. It is the Government's belief that only one responsible source exists, and no other product or service will satisfy agency requirements. This is the only known vendor to provide equipment that meets the following requirements: (1) Provide up to 600 gigabases of DNA sequence per run (2) Produce paired-end sequence reads of 150 basepair length (3) Provides runs in 1 day or less (4) Provides completely automated sample amplification (no emulsion PCR) (5) Capable of producing over 500 million individual sequence reads in a run for metagemonic analysis applications (6) Produces no homopolymers errors in the sequence. The Purchase Order will require delivery and installation no later than 31 October 2013; however the Government may consider an alternate delivery schedule. The sequencing sytem includes (a) workstation computer, (b) touch screen monitor, (c) control software, (d) installation kits and standards, (e) installation and training, and (f) a twelve (12) month warranty inclusive of parts and labor. The anticipated award date is 15 September 2013. The Contract will be a Fixed Price awarded in accordance with FAR Part 12 - Acquisition of Commercial Items. THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION FOR COMMERCIAL ITEMS PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN SUBPART 12.6, AS SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION. FIRMS THAT BELIEVE THEY CAN PROVIDE THIS REQUIREMENT ARE ENCOURAGED TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES BY THE SUBMISSION OF A QUOTE TO THE CONTRACTING OFFICE NO LATER THAN 12:00 PM, EST ON THURSDAY 15 AUGUST 2013. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within its discretion. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Inquiries may be sent to the attention of Donna J Myler by e-mail at dmyler@cdc.gov or by fax 770-488-2044.
