Description
This is a Sources Sought posting only. Interested vendors are requested to register in the Interested Vendor portal. This is not a solicitation or request for proposal. Proposals will be disqualified upon receipt. SLAC is considering the acquisition of the low-level electronic, signal processing, diagnostic, and software components of an accelerator bunch-by-bunch feedback system for the SPEAR3 storage ring in the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL). The system shall be capable of driving an external amplifier and beam kicker structure that can damp any beam oscillations to motion below a level detectable on SPEAR3 x-ray beamlines. The system shall be able to simultaneously monitor and control beam oscillations that occur in three independent directions of motion (two horizontal betatron oscillations and one longitudinal synchrotron oscillation). The relevant parameters of the SPEAR3 storage ring are: the radio frequency (RF) is nominally 476.316 MHz, the harmonic number of the ring is 372, and the maximum electron current in the ring is 500 mA. The bunch-by-bunch system shall have an Ethernet port that allows it to communicate with the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) used to operate the SPEAR3 accelerator. The operating software on the system shall enable it to appear as a standard EPICS Input Output Controller (IOC) to the SPEAR3 control system. The system shall also supply MATLAB compatible functions that can be used to analyze, off-line, data acquired, processed, and downloaded to the SPEAR3 control system.
