- BEP-RFI-13-0224 THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. The Government is not seeking proposals at this time, and will not accept unsolicited proposals. This RFI is issued solely for market research, planning, and information purposes and is NOT to be construed as a commitment by the Government to enter into a contractual agreement, nor will the Government pay for information solicited hereunder. All information received in response to this RFI that is marked Proprietary will be handled accordingly. Responses to the RFI will not be returned. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI. If any solicitation is issued, not responding to this RFI will not preclude participation in any future solicitation. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Overview: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is seeking a commercially available, plug-and-play Contact Imaging Sensor capable of collecting and analyzing multi-spectral images of moving printed sheets. BEP is requesting information from vendors who can provide a system that can meet the following requirements: • Prior use in currency inspections • Line rate >10kHz • Choice of at least three (3) light sources, preferably five (5) • At least 300mm wide, scalable by a factor of three (3) • Resolution of up to 600dpi • Should be a contactless measurement - preferably several millimeters away from the sheet • Prefer transmissive and reflective images in one (1) package • Preferred Bit Depth of at least 10 • Should withstand factory conditions such as vibrations, dust, and ambient light changes. Specific information related to the above would include repeatability and depth-of-field specifications and/or data. A brief description of the color and image processing capabilities offered, along with hardware details, and performance results welcome. Information about compliance with regulatory standards may also be included. The vendor is requested to provide lead time for delivery and an initial estimated cost. A copy of the vendor's brochures and technical information on their systems is requested in PDF format (not included in the page limit). Capability Statement: Interested parties of any size can submit a capability statement that details their corporate capabilities and experience in providing similar equipment/systems as outlined above. Within this capability statement, interested parties must detail relevant, recent experience. In addition to the above, interested parties are required to provide, at a minimum, the following information within the capability statement: Company Name Point of Contact (name, address, email, phone number) DUNS Number All Applicable NAICS Codes Business Size per NAICS Code Socio-economic Status (i.e., 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOB, etc.) Registered in the System for Award Management (Yes or No) RFI Submittal Instructions: Interested parties shall provide a response to this RFI of no more than 10 pages (not including brochures) to Gladys Wilks at gladys.wilks@bep.gov. Responses are due no later than 16 August 2013, 12 NOON EST. All responses will be in Windows compatible format or PDF. Information shall be sent via email attachment only. Electronic documentation presented in any other format shall not be considered by the BEP. BEP will not pay bid and preparation costs for any responses to this announcement nor will proprietary information be evaluated. Proprietary and/or Confidential Response Information: Interested parties are required to mark clearly proprietary information that is provided in their response to this RFI. Please be advised that all submissions become Government property and will not be returned.
