- NASA/KSC has a requirement for AOptics Technologies, Intellimax MB2000 Blue (Part Number ACHW1003), Intellimax MB2000 Red (Part Number ACHW1004), Intellimax MB2000 Accessory Kit (Part Number ACAC1001), Intellimax MB2000 Technical Support and Training. NASA/KSC intends to purchase the items from AOptic Technologies, Campbell, CA. The requirements of the KSC FSO system is to be cable of providing 10 Gb/s Ethernet connection speeds to 6 km and 1 Gb/s Ethernet connection speeds to 10km. The availability of the KSC FSO system is to provide 99.999% of the time link availability in all weather conditions, in order to be comparable in performance to fiber optical cable connections with lower cost in initial investment. AOptix Technologies is the only known vendor with the capabilities of providing connection speeds to meet KSCs requirements. The KSC Free Space Optics (FSO) subsystem is intended to provide reliable high speed communication between two locations without the use of traditional wire or fiber optic solutions. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 8:00 a.m. local time on 08/19/2013. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
