Description
RAINBOW CREEK THINNING PROJECT 2013 IN APPROXIMATELY 1 DAY, THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS COMMERCIAL SSERVICE PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW AND PRINT. SCOPE OF WORK The intent of this contract is to secure services for whitebark pine habitat improvement within the Pole Creek Watershed on the Sawtooth NRA. The project includes cutting of subalpine and lodgepole pine to remove competition and to promote growth of whitebark pine. LOCATION The project area is located on the Sawtooth NRA in Blaine County, Idaho (See Map 1). Rainbow Creek 2 Unit. Located approximately 25 miles south of Stanley and 36 miles north of Ketchum, Idaho off of Hwy 75 (Map 1). Access to the area is via Highway 75 and Forest Road Number 70194 (Valley Road) for approximately 1.75 miles to Forest Road Number 70199 (Pole Creek Cutoff) for approximately 0.4 miles to Forest Trail 256 for approximately 0.4 miles to Forest Trail 259 for approximately 1.8 miles to Forest Trail 261 (Rainbow Creek Trail) for approximately one mile to within approximately 0.5 miles of the cutting unit (Map 2). These trails are open to motorcycle, ATV, horse, or foot. Once off the trails foot or horse travel is required. An alternate route to the cutting unit is Forest Road 70405 (Galena Summit) off of Highway 75. The south end of the cutting unit is approximately one mile from the end of this road by foot or horse. The payment unit is comprised of numerous small cutting areas around whitebark pine trees totaling approximately 100 acres within the 1050 acre unit.
