Description
Statement of Work Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Kits Scope: This action is for the acquisition of umbilical cord blood units. These kits will be used for the collection of umbilical cord blood from volunteer maternal donors for potential processing by the Georgetown University/Department of Defense Cord Blood Bank, a public cord blood bank. After thorough evaluation those units that have been processed will be placed on the National Marrow Donor Program Registry where they will be available for patients undergoing hematopoietic transplant as a treatment modality for their disease. Objective: The kit production process entails procurement of raw materials that are necessary for production of, and include fabricated polyurethane foam insert, pressure sensitive backing used w/the fabricated polyurethane foam insert, cavity slotted absorbent blotter holder for maternal blood sample tubes, 95kPa specimen transport bag, custom designed interior chipboard pocket for documents, with custom litho label (10 pt. copy) overlay and corrugated B flute box. All of these items must be purchased and warehoused before assembly. Safe-Guard's strategic alliances allow them to procure raw materials in quantities needed to accomplish desired and, most often, large inventory requirements and also contributes to the savings of the price per unit cost. A crucial aspect of the kit production is the warehousing of the kits until they are requested for shipment to the processing lab. There are no upfront charges for this process and no monthly storage fees. This process does not cost the government excess fees for processing. Safe-Guard flawlessly coordinates the process without neglecting fulfillment obligations. Safe-Guard warehouses materials and readied inventory without increasing price per unit costs and ships to the processing lab without shipping fees or rush fees. They also coordinate shipping carriers by researching the least expensive shipping methods. If the best method is with their preferred carrier, the shipment is sent out using their account number, tracking information is shared and the shipping cost is billed with the invoice at the time the kits are shipped to a drive destination. Requirements: Inventory must be acquired for manufacturing of kits and includes: Custom printed litho label (10 pt. copy) overlay of kit box and interior pocket Corrugated B flute box approximately 13 ¾ x 9 5/8 x 3 6/8 inches Chipboard pocket insert 2 lb. -grey polyurethane die cut foam insert with PSA adhesive backing 2 lb. - grey polyurethane foam backing for die cut foam piece 95kPa specimen transport bag Slotted absorbent blotter holder for maternal blood specimen tubes Assemble customized printed kit boxes Store packed cases in quantities Coordinate with requestor for world-wide shipping to include the following process: Research cost-effective shipping methods and compare with requestors preferred method for efficient and often overnight shipping needs Track all shipments and provide tracking information to requestor, and assist with the resolution of any and all shipping problems. Vendor is required to provide requestor with copies of packing slips, and shipping and tracking information to be used for delivery verification
