Description
All technical questions regarding this requirement should be directed to Mr. Clement Lacher at 412-386-4907, e-mail Clement.Lacher@netl.doe.gov. It is the National Energy Technology Laboratory's (NETL) intent to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to MIKRO SYSTEMS INC. This is considered a sole source to MIKRO SYSTEMS INC. because The next generation of gas turbine engines must run hotter in order to provide improved performance, efficiency, and reduced emissions. To meet these goals, new turbine blade designs are needed that have improved internal cooling passages, which allow the blades to withstand higher operating temperatures. Mikro Systems Inc. has developed a unique ceramic core casting technology (TOMOsm) that uses precision, three dimensional, lithographically‐derived tooling that permits the intricate design and casting of enhanced heat transfer features on gas turbine blades. Mikro Systems? approach allows new cooling surface features to be created that would not be possible with current casting processes. Further, this alternate core casting technology will seamlessly integrate into existing multimillion dollar casting processes used by the industry and quickly revolutionize the industry?s ability to enhance both existin g and future turbines with new blade designs. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. Challenges must demonstrate the capability to provide all of the listed specifications for the item being requested. If no challenges to acquire this item are received by 5:30 PM ET on August 9, 2013, the government reserves the right to execute an award without publishing further notification. Detailed capabilities, proposals and other documents must be submitted no later than the time and date noted above. NOTICE: Vendors are strongly encouraged to submit their Request for Quotation (RFQ SF 18) or proposal(s) via the FEDCONNECT.NET portal at www.fedconnect.net. Request for Quotation (RFQ SF 18) or proposal(s) shall also be accepted via email or fax. Vendors may e-mail their RFQ?s or proposal(s) to the Contract Specialist assigned to this requirement, Mr. Robert Mohn, e-mail address Robert.Mohn@netl.doe.gov and the FAX number is 412-386-5770.
