- Description
- The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA), Fort Detrick, MD intends to issue a sole source award utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Rigaku Americas Corporation for a Rigaku HighFlux Phasing HomeLab and Automated Crystallization System. The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) has a requirement for a Rigaku HighFlux Phasing HomeLab and Automated Crystallization System for installment at the new USAMRIID facility. The purchase of the required Rigaku Crystallography system is needed for the Molecular Biophysics Core Facility of the new USAMRIID building. The facility layout and infrastructure has been designed to be compatible with this system. The equipment was defined as the basis of design for the new USAMRIID MILCON Project. The equipment meets with the construction schedule as part of the installation of the equipment. Additionally, Rigaku is the only manufacturer of a bimetallic dual-wavelength in-house phasing system, which is needed to provide the complete capability to solve protein crystal structures in support of biomedical countermeasure development. Purchase of any other instrument would result in loss of that capability and potential incompatibility with infrastructure design. This notice of intent is for information purposes only, therefore, no solicitation will result from this announcement. All sources eligible to provide this service must respond in writing. Responses must be supported with clear and convincing evidence to clearly be able to provide services outlined above. A request for documentation will not be considered as an affirmative response. If no responses are received, within 30 days, 09 September 2013, after publication of this notice, to the effect that comparable supplies and services are available, and that it is more advantageous to the Government than obtaining these services through a sole-source contract, then a sole source acquisition award will be made. Response to this award is to be sent to roman.e.laterza.civ@mail.mil
