- Concession Business Opportunity for Lodging, Food, and Beverage, Retail and Other Services Doughton Park within the Blue Ridge Parkway The National Park Service (NPS) will issue a prospectus for solicitation of offers for a 10 year concession contract to provide for Lodging, Food and Beverage, Retail and Other Services at Doughton Park within the Blue Ridge Parkway. Doughton Park (Milepost 241) Doughton Park is a highland recreation area of the Blue Ridge Parkway made up of a landscape of serene open meadows, miles of traditional split-rail fence, and pioneer cabins, and a place to view wildlife and get a feel for the lives of those who lived here long ago. The Concession Opportunity at Doughton Park includes the Bluffs Lodge, Bluffs Restaurant and Coffee Shop and the Bluffs Camp Store. Completed in 1949, the Doughton Park concession facilities were the first to provide meals and lodging on the Parkway. Visitors to the Lodge enjoy simple, clean, and comfortable rooms with the majority facing the meadow. The Bluffs Restaurant and Coffee Shop and the Bluffs Camp Store are located a quarter mile from the Lodge on the Parkway. All offers must be received by the NPS at the address listed on the inside front cover of the prospectus no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, in order to be evaluated and considered for an award of a concession contract. The prospectus describes the business opportunity and includes the terms and conditions under which the NPS will award the concession contract. The prospectus will be available on the NPS website at http://concessions.nps.gov/prospectuses.htm, or you can receive a hard copy for $40.00. To request a hard copy of the prospectus to be delivered via Federal Express, send a check for $40.00 payable to the National Park Service to Mark Morgan at the address listed below. Please include a physical address (no post office box) and telephone number. You may also pick up a printed copy at the Superintendent's Office at Park Headquarters for $35.00 (checks only).
