Solicitation Number: W81XWH-13-T-0320 Closing Response Date: Notice of Intent - 22 August 2013 Contact Point: Abraham Pottenger at abraham.pottenger.civ@mail.mil or 301-619-2294 The United States Army Medical Research Acquistion Activity (USAMRAA), Fort Detrick, MD intends to issue a sole source IDIQ award to Affymetrix, Inc., 3420 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA, 95051-0704 to provide DNA microarray chips, plates, and related reagents, required for sample processing in support of genomic studies. This requirement is for commercially available supplies to include DNA microarray chips, plates, and related reagents, required for sample processing in support of genomic studies. These items are used to explore human, mouse, rat, porcine, and zebrafish biology and disease processes. The plates are used to measure gene expression of thousands of transcripts and variants such as large clusters or well-known characterized genes. The array material must offer accurate, robust, and reproducible 3'-or whole transcript-based, gene-level expression profiling and have the ability to interrogate each gene with multiple independent probes. In addition, the material requires Affymetrix high density probe array processing from target hybridization to data generation which no other vendor can provide. To maintain continuity of current on-going approved research protocols and validity of scientific research, supplies must be procured from Affymetrix Inc. Affymetrix is the only company that sells and distributes Genechips and HT array plates which are processed with the Genechip Analyzer and GeneTitan instruments established in both research laboratories. This announcement constitutes the only notice by the government; a written solicitation will not be issued. All sources that believe they are eligible to provide these items must respond in writing. Responses must be supported with clear and convincing evidence to clearly articulate the ability to provide the items outlined above. A request for documentation will not be considered an affirmative response. This Special Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government. If no written responses are received by the date listed below, which reflects ten (10) days after the publication of this notice, the purchase will be awarded without further remark.
