Description
SOURCES SOUGHT: THIS IS NOT A NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL BUT INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY! It does not constitute a solicitation and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Patrick Air Force Base anticipates a requirement that is being considered under a small business set-aside program. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) Code proposed 333517. The size standard for NAICS is 500 employees The purpose of this acquisition is to purchase hydraulic presses to support the stand-up of the new laboratory on Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. The customer requires Hydraulic presses to process samples. The press must be able to accomplish composite molding, compression molding, crushing, encapsulation, extrusion, forming, insert pressing, metal forming, and specimen preparation. This ensures consistent geometry for sample counting by pressing samples into consistent forms. The requirement is for two: Carver Model M Manuel Press (3853) or equivalent Carver Std Motor Pkg (2759-3) or equivalent Preferred specifications: (Model M) Twenty-five ton, manual, two-column hydraulic press. Daylight opening is adjustable to 16". Rigid cast iron and steel construction for precision and durability. Easy-to-read dual scale analog gauge, reading in pounds force and metric tons. Manually operated Clamping force: 25-50,000 tons Adjustable Daylight Opening: 0.75" 16" (Factory set at 4 1/2) Ram Stroke: 6 1/2 in Two (2) fully threaded columns 9" x 9" work area (platen size) 0-50,000 lb Analog pressure gauge, reading in 500 lb increments (digital gauge also available) Light gray safety shield Dark gray frame Dimensions (footprint): 19"L-R x 24"F-B (uncrated) Height: 42" (uncrated) Weight: 350 pounds (uncrated) Motorization Package: Convert hand operated presses to automatic operation with Motor Pak power units. Carver Motor Pak power units include electronic speed control and two-hand "anti-tie-down" buttons for operator protection on two models. A standard Motor Pak and a Time & Pressure Release Motor Pak. They both have 1/2 hp D.C. permanent magnet motor, two-stage hydraulic pump. Pre-selected force setting is maintained automatically. Externally adjustable Solid-state motor speed control. External control valve and internal relief valve. Connecting hoses with an array of fittings and hardware also included. The Time & Pressure Motor Pak also comes with a digital timer and automatic pressure release operating valve. The government is interested in all small businesses including (8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zone, or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses that are interested in performing this requirement. The government requests interested parties submit a brief description of their company's business size (i.e. annual revenues and employee size), business status (i.e., 8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zone, or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses, small business) anticipated teaming arrangements, and a description of similar services offered to the Government and to commercial customers. Any responses involving teaming agreements should delineate between the work that will be accomplished by the prime and the work accomplished by the teaming partners. (insert any other questions the customer would like to see.) The Government will use this information in determining its small business set-aside decision. Any information submitted by respondents to this sources sought synopsis is voluntary. This sources sought notice is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government reimburse any costs associated with the submission of information in response to this notice. Respondents will not be individually notified of the results of any government assessments. The Government's evaluation of the capability statements received will factor into whether any forthcoming solicitation will be conducted as a full and open competition or as a set-aside for small businesses, or any particular small business designation (e.g. SDVOSB, HUBZone, 8(a), SDB, WOSB, VOSB, etc.).
