Description

The VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302-1 -- Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements with GE Healthcare of 3114 N. Grandview Blvd. for the purchase of a Trophon EPR Disinfection System for Ultrasound Probes required by the Urology Service. The requested equipment is necessary to perform Urological Surgical procedures in a tertiary referral center such as the VAMC Boston Healthcare System. This requirement will include the following characteristics: Product Description The above system is required to ensure patient safety and staff familiarity with instruments being used. This system is well proven in clinical practices and is familiar to the surgeons who currently use the Trophon EPR Disinfection System at the other institutions in the city. Standardization of surgical Trophon Disinfection systems across both campuses will result in greater efficiency and increased familiarity by OR personnel and result in significant and critical improvement regarding the continuity of patient safety. GE Healthcare is the manufacturer of these specific devices that are to be used when performing urological cases in the operating room. GE Healthcare is capable of providing the equipment without the Boston VAMC experiencing unacceptable delays in fulfilling its requirements. Research was conducted via the NAC, GSA, GSA Advantage and Google without finding another responsible source or similar product that will meet the needs of the service. Therefore, it is to the best of our knowledge that the GE Healthcare is only known source that provides the items required with the specifications and capabilities required. Salient Characteristics (1) Trophon EPR Disinfection System for Ultrasound Probes (2) Trophon Chemical Indicator (3) Trophon Wall Mount (4) Trophon Sonex HL 6 80ml bottles/box (80ml bottles) This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Parties may identify their interest, accompanied by supporting literature, to the Contracting Officer no later than 08/19/2013 @ 2:00pm. Responses should be sent to James.Corbett2@va.gov. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
