- The Bighorn National Forest is seeking interested contractors to perform mechanical piling of slash in recent cut units; fuels thinning, with mistletoe reduction, and fuel break construction by hand and machine. Anticipated acres to be treated for mechanical piling treatment is 4 units of approximately 169 acres; fuels thinning with mistletoe reduction and fuel break treatment is 4 units of approximately 537 acres; and fuel break treatment is 2 units of approximately 26 acres. To meet the needs of the government multiple awards may be considered under this solicitation. The mechanical piling in the Woodrock area must be completed this operating season. Offerors' may submit offers on all, or some of the scheduled items. Project areas are located within the counties of Bighorn, Johnson, and Sheridan, Wyoming. Use of biobased products is identified in the specifications. This contract opportunity is a total small business set-aside. A solicitation for this is anticipated to be posted August 19, 2013. A Site Visit is not scheduled; however, offerors are encouraged to visit the sites prior to submitting offers. A locked gate is located at Paintrock Guard Station, but this unit is ¼ mile from the gate and it is accessible. There are some roads that are closed in the piling units; however, those units are a short walk from an open road. It is the contractor's responsibility to familiarize themselves with the normal terrain.
