Description
The following Questions were received regarding this solicitation; the Corps response follows each question: Question 1. There is no grading plan, so am I to assume the existing grade is ready to accept the 6" of class 5 and 3 ½" of bituminous on the parking lot and the 2 ½" of bituminous on the trail RESPONSE: SEE Amendment 0002 for changes Question 2. There is a prime coat called out for in the specifications. We haven't completed a project requiring prime coat since the early 1970's, it is an antiquated specification that is no longer used in this area RESPONSE: SEE Amendment 0002 (REMOVED PRIME COAT REQUIREMENT) Question 3. There will be an enormous cost to apply this minor amount of prime coating material (MC-30 or MC-70)as required in the proposal (between 3 and 10 gallons).Due to the fact this is such a small amount of material to apply (and it is never used)we would have to either have a tanker load delivered or mobilize our tack truck to a refinery and purchase a minimum of 500 gallons to be able to heat the material to be able to apply it as required RESPONSE: SEE Amendment 0002 (REMOVED PRIME COAT REQUIREMENT) Question 4. Can the path be paved to a minimum 8 ½' at its narrowest? Paver machines generally will pave a minimum of 8' 6". A 6' trail can be installed by hand, but you will get a nicer looking and economical job using a machine RESPONSE: The trail size must remain as required in the specifications however, adjacent trees shown on the drawing at that point of the trail will be removed to allow room for equipment Question 5. I'm assuming the mix design in the section 2.3 main construction items (STWEB235B) is supposed to be (SPWEB230B) or (SPWEB235B)? RESPONSE: SEE Amendment 0002 for changes Question 6. In the materials section 2.5 the LVNW3 and LVWE3 spec is a contradiction to the SPWEB235B spec, LV designs have been replaced with SP RESPONSE: SEE Amendment 0002 for changes
