Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Station Support/Simplified Acquisitions (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute on Mental Health (NIMH) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis for a 12-month Maintenance agreement on existing government equipment currently being used in the laboratory that was manufactured and previously purchased by the Carl Zeiss Microscopy, located at 1 Zeiss Dr, Thornwood, NY 10594. The Premium Laser Scanning Microscope System is currently being used for biological experiments that are time and sample dependent necessitating its consistent operation, and need of a maintenance agreement in case of operational failure. This agreement consists of one (1) preventative maintenance visit and first access to factory trained service representatives. Scan Module VIS / 405 Meta, serial #2102000244, Mfr. part no. M207386, is located in Building #35, Room 2C401. No other vendors are authorized to perform maintenance service on this existing government-owned equipment. The basis for sole-source determination is based on the compatibility with existing equipment. Contractor is the only source of supply that can satisfy agency requirement. This acquisition is made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with the policies and procedures for solicitation, evaluation, and award prescribed in FAR Part 12, and is exempt from the competition requirements of Part 6. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing this synopsis number, may be submitted to the NIDA SS/SA Branch, prior to the closing date specified in this announcement, electronically to the attention of Hunter A. Tjugum, at tjugumha@mail.nih.gov.
