Description
The National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center is conducting a sources sought/market survey to help determine the availability and technical capability of qualified small businesses, women-owned small businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, service disabled veteran-owned small businesses and/or HUBZONE small businesses capable of serving the needs mentioned below. This sources sought/market survey announcement is not a request for quote (RFQ) and the Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses received. This Sources Sought Notice (SS) is for information and planning purposes only, and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the Government. Interested parties are expected to review this Notice. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this source sought/market survey. A fixed-price type contract is intended. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 333999 (small business size standard is 500 number of employees). The NIH Pharmaceutical Development Section is seeking to upgrade the capsule filling machine with a new semi -automatic capsule filling machine and related change parts to be in compliance with cGMP requirements. Semi-automatic capsule filling machines are used to fill hard gelatin capsules with pharmaceutical ingredients and feature automated controls that reduce the need for continuous operator attention, minimize operator fatigue and allow the encapsulation process to be completed with fewer people. Semi-automatic capsule filling machines require no power and can be used in facilities with minimal infrastructure. These machines are manually operated and feature an automatic loader that automates the filling of capsule loading trays. The semi-automatic capsule filling machines require readily available spare parts (for size #0, 1, 2 and 3) that ensure that there is a minimum down time when changing between different capsule sizes. Semi Automatic Manual capsule fillers are ideal for a large variety of encapsulation operations that require medium size volume output such as medium size manufacturing GMP facilities like PDS. To be compatible with the physical space restrictions in the PDS manufacturing area, the maximum dimensions of the machine are 25 inch height and 20 inch width. To be easily moved, the maximum weight for the machine is 40 pounds. The machine should be constructed of steel or aluminum to withstand cleaning with detergents. The accuracy of the capsule fill must depend on the full fill of ingredients in each capsule. The machine must easily accept an automatic capsule loader. The capsule loader mechanism must feature an automatic loader for the alignment of capsules in loading trays. The machine must have the capability of changing between #0, #1, #2, and #3 capsule sizes. The machine must be capable of loading 6,000 capsules per hour and producing at least 6,000 filled capsules per hour. The vendor must be able to supply spare parts as needed Vendors are to submit thier capability statements no later than date and time specified in the notice deatils. Capability statements should be emailed to Mr. Brian Lind at lindbj@cc.nih.gov.
