- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award on a sole source basis a purchase order to the Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, TX. The contract is for the purpose of developing a detailed Quantiferon Gold In-Tube (QFT) quality assurance plan, conducting site visits to specified public and private laboratories performing QFT for the Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium (TBESC) study: Prospective Comparison of the Tuberculin Skin Test and Interferon-Gamma Release Assays in Diagnosing Infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and in Predicting Progression to Tuberculosis on CDC IRB protocol #6293.0, and document and communicate findings via detailed reports. The Methodist Hospital Research Institute is the only known vendor with TBESC experience, capability, expertise, and skills, who is not excluded due to a conflict of interest. The authority for this sole source is FAR 6.302-1; Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 541712. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. However, companies that believe they can perform QFT for the TBESC must submit written notification of interest and capability to the Contracting Specialist within ten (10) days from the publication date of this notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement.
