Description

The Department of Commerce (DOC), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Material Measurement Laboratory's Materials Measurement Science Division (MMSD) Nanomechancal Properties Group (NPG's) develops and disseminates measurement science, standards, and technology pertaining to the measurement of mechanical properties of advanced materials and structures at the nanoscale; determines, compiles, evaluates, and disseminates key data needed to establish the relationships between structure and mechanical properties and performance of inorganic and hybrid materials and devices. To support Standard Reference Material (SRM) production, the NPG requires hardware and software upgrades to the existing instrument control PC for the NIST Polytec MSA 500 dual beam microscope based fiber vibrometer. The Nanomechancal Properties Group at NIST makes laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) measurements using a NIST Polytec MSA 500 LDV system. The Government requires the Contractor to provide upgrades to the control PC and software components of MSA 500 LDV system.
