Description

There is continued evidence of how complementary and alternative treatments for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) aid in the treatment for combat veterans. Enhanced Brief Treatment PTSD Unit (EBTPU) data suggests significant difference from cohorts that received little to no yoga therapy compared to those that received yoga therapy twice or more per week. The cohorts that received yoga therapy twice per week reported significantly less anxiety and significantly less depressive symptoms. This suggests the need for continued funding of Yoga practices to help veterans improve the outcomes from the EBTPU. The EBTPU program requires a yoga therapist to conduct yoga sessions twice per week within the EBTPU. This is a small program that services six veterans per month. The preferred type of yoga is Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) and experience working with veterans diagnosed with PTSD. The VA anticipates issuing a solicitation for this requirement the week of September 4, 2013, with a closing date for proposals on or about September 10, 2013. The solicitation will be available for download from http://www.fbo.gov. Interested contractors will be responsible for downloading copies of solicitation (and any subsequent amendments) from that website, and no hard copies will be made available. The solicitation will provide full information to contractors about the proposal submission process. Prospective offerors are encouraged to register their interest in the solicitation on the FBO website so that they are notified of the issuance of the solicitation and any amendments. Notice to potential offerors: NAICS Code is 611699 with a small business size standard of $10 Million. The solicitation will be set aside for small business concerns only. All responsible sources may submit proposals which shall be considered by the Agency. All offerors who provide goods or services to the United States Federal Government must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at www.sam.gov and complete Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA). Additionally, all Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses or Veteran Owned Businesses who respond to a solicitation on this project must be registered with the Department of Veterans Affairs Center for Veterans Enterprise VetBiz Registry located at http://vip.vetbiz.gov. Registration is free and potential offerors are encouraged to visit the website and register as soon as possible to avoid delays should they be selected for a contract award.
