- Description
- The California Institute of Technologys Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), operating under a prime contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is seeking potential contractors to provide two (2) liquid flow measurement devices in support of the Europa mission. INTRODUCTION: JPL is currently planning a deep space mission to one of the Jovian moons and is seeking feedback on state-of-the-art hardware to facilitate this mission. JPL is looking to procure two (2) liquid flow measurement devices which either meet or can readily be adapted to meet the requirements listed in Attachments 1 and 2 of this synopsis. These devices should be at a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of at least 7. That is, they should be ready for low-risk flight mission qualification. RESPONDING TO THE REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI): All responses to the RFI should include: (1) Name and primary point of contact for the response; (2) Company represented by the primary point of contact; (3) Phone number and E-Mail address; (4) the proposed part number and product literature, if available; and (5) A brief summary (500 words or less) describing the relevant testing and flight pedigree associated with the part. RFI QUESTIONS: JPL is requesting responses to the following questions: (1) Are there any requirements listed for this flow meter that the proposed device does not currently meet? Please describe the technical risk associated with potential design changes required to meet these requirements; (2) Are there any requirement exceptions or deviations for the proposed device? and (3) Please provide a short description of the product operation, mass, envelope, power requirements, output signal and any flight heritage. RESPONSE SUBMISSION DEADLINE AND INQUIRIES: Response to this RFI must be submitted no later than 23 September 2013. Submissions will be accepted as an E-Mail attachment only, and all responses should be sent to Michael Jacobs at Michael.H.Jacobs@jpl.nasa.gov with Flow meter RFI Response in the subject line. Any inquiries regarding this RFI should also be directed to Michael Jacobs. An E-Mail confirmation will be sent to the designated point of contact within one (1) week of receipt of the submission. Do not provide any proprietary data to JPL in response to this RFI. DISCLAIMER: It is emphasized that the requested information is for preliminary planning purposes only and does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that JPL will solicit you for such procurement in the future. Neither JPL nor the Government will be responsible for any costs incurred by you in furnishing this information. Prospective subcontractors are advised that any information provided shall be deemed to be furnished with unlimited rights to JPL, with JPL assuming no liability for the disclosure, use, or reproduction of such data.
