- Description
- The following requirement is set-aside for Small Business Concerns. The FAA is hereby soliciting quotes for the following: Requirement: The FAA Fire Safety Branch requires a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer system with the capability for measurement of particle size, distribution, and two dimensional velocity in variable density multiphase flows relevant to fire safety including: Fuel sprays Water sprays for water mist fire extinguishment Solid particle fire extinguishment flows Liquid handheld fire extinguishment sprays The system should include robust analysis and plotting software, on-site training, and technical support. Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA) is a well-established technique applying the physics of light refraction and interferometry to resolve a spherical particle ™s size and velocity at a point in a flow. Two focused laser beams are used to create a measurement volume at a point in the flow where the beams intersect. Receiving optics are placed at an off-axis location that projects a portion of the light scattered by the particle onto multiple detectors. Each detector converts the signal into a Doppler burst with a frequency linearly proportional to the particle velocity. The phase shift between the Doppler signals from different detectors is a direct measure of the particle diameter. By moving the measurement volume throughout the flow field, the entire flow can be mapped for particle size and velocity. Items will be shipped to the following address: Delivery Location Code: N6942K7M 6942K7 DOT FAA ANG E21 Fire Safety Branch Bldg. 204 William J. Hughes Technical Center Atlantic City, NJ 08405 The FAA will not pay for any information received or costs incurred for preparing responses to this announcement. Therefore, any costs associated with a response to the RFQ are solely at the interested vendor's expense. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 334516 for Particle Size Analyzer Manufacturing. Vendors must complete the attached Business Declaration Form and return with quote submittal. All potential vendors must be registered in the SAM Registry website (https://www.sam.gov/portal/public/SAM/) for consideration of this award. OFFERS ARE DUE NO LATER THEN Thursday, September 12, 2013, 12:00 pm (Eastern Time). OFFERS RECEIVED AFTER THAT DATE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Offers must provide quote with pricing (including shipping price) and proposed delivery schedule. All submittals must be directed to: kimberly.proko@faa.gov If you're viewing this announcement from a source other than Federal Aviation Administration Contract Opportunities (FAACO), visit https://faaco.faa.gov/index.cfm/announcement/view/15034 to view the original announcement.
