- Description
- The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Center for Veterinary Biologics (CVB) located in Ames, IA intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Prionics USA, Inc. located in Lincoln, NE for tuberculin, Mycobacterium bovis Purified Protein Derivative (PPD), intradermic, in 5 ml vials. Tuberculin is used to determine whether animals are infected with bovine tuberculosis. The specific tuberculin to be purchased comes from tuberculin produced at the Prionics facility located in Lelystad, Netherlands. The Prionics tuberculin will be field tested and evaluated to determine the comparative performance of non-domestically produced Mycobacterium bovis PPD. The Colorado Serum Company (CSC) located in Denver, CO is the only manufacturer currently licensed by the USDA CVB to produce Mycobacterium bovis PPD tuberculin. Prionics is in the process of seeking licensure with the necessary field testing. Licensing an alternative source of tuberculin will help avoid past tuberculin shortages. A purchase order valued at NTE $90,000.00 for Prionics tuberculin is anticipated. This is not a request for a quote, and no formal solicitation will be issued. This notice is for informational purposes only. However, all interested parties may contact the Contract Specialist listed below. Anyone interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide compelling evidence that they can provide Mycobacterium bovis PPD tuberculin in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. Responses must be submitted electronically, via email, to michael.j.chiodi@aphis.usda.gov. The deadline for the submittal of responses is 1:00 pm central time, September 20, 2013.
