- Contract Line Item: IOM TO CONVENE AN EXPERT PANEL ON ADVANCED DEMENTIA Solicitation#: #13-233-SOL-00800 Notice Type: Presolicitation NAICS Code: 541690 Date: September 26, 2013 2:00 PM EST The Program Support Center on behalf of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Health (ASPE) within the Department of Health and Human Services intends to negotiate and award a contract to the National Academies (Institute of Medicine) on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.501 to convene expert panels on advanced dementia. The expert panel will include at least 12 experts. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) will organize and convene three one-day meetings of the expert panel to discuss a variety of topics about the treatment of individuals with advanced dementia. In accordance with the recommendation of the Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Research, Care, and Services, the National Plan to Address Alzheimer's Disease: 2013 Update states that HHS will "support the Institute of Medicine to convene a meeting of experts on advanced dementia." This project will fulfill HHS's commitment in the 2013 Update. Working closely with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), the IOM will identify experts to serve on the panel, work with the chair to identify topics and discussion questions, create an agenda, and undertake all of the logistics necessary to convene meetings of the panel. This expert panel is charged with considering and making recommendations to the Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Research, Care, and Services about: • Addressing patient-centered goals of care • Infection management • Feeding and nutrition problems • Falls and injury prevention • Transitional care and hospitalizations • Communication No solicitation document is available. All responsible sources that have the requisite qualifications to perform the work described above may submit a statement of capabilities electronically to Bryan Daines at bryan.daines@psc.hhs.gov. Responses must be double-spaced with 1" margins on all sides and use a standard font no smaller than 12 point. The response must be sequentially numbered, beginning on the first page after the table of contents. Responses are due by September 26th, 2013 2:00 PM EST. Responses will not be accepted after the due date. If no capability statements are received which specifically demonstrate the ability to perform the requirements above, the Government shall proceed with negotiating a sole source contract to the National Academies (Institute of Medicine).
