- Description
- This project is a renourishment of the Treasure Island and Long Key segments of the Pinellas County Beach Erosion Control Project. The constructed beach berm will have a minimum elevation of +4.1-feet (North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88)) with a +0.5 foot fill tolerance. The crest of berm for the entire contract references the Construction Baseline (CBL). The offshore borrow area for the project is located approximately 10 miles south-southwest of the northernmost beach placement area: Sunshine Beach. Project renourishment work is within the Pinellas County Aquatic Preserve and the bays. The Boca Ciega Bay Aquatic Preserve borders the inlets. Egmont Shoal East Borrow area is outside the boundaries of both aquatic preserves; however the U.S.S. Narcissus Underwater Archaeological Preserve is on the western boundary of the borrow area. The contract is divided into base and optional work. Base work is renourishment for Treasure Island reaches whereas optional work is for Long Key reaches. The project areas on Treasure Island to be renourished are on the northern segment at Sunshine Beach and Sunset Beach. Long Key requires renourishment of Upham Beach and Pass-A-Grille Beach. Project fill limits are shown on the drawings. Work also includes, but is not limited to beach tilling, construction and vibration controls and monitoring, turbidity monitoring, endangered species observers, and beach fill remediation.
