Description
*** THE PREVIOUS AWARD SYNOPSIS WAS IN ERROR. THIS IS THE CORRECT AWARD SYNOPSIS FOR THIS SOLICITATION. *** The project will consist of the placement of beach quality material in Northern and Southern reaches of Brevard County, Florida. The boundaries of North Reach are from immediately south of Canaveral Harbor down to Patrick Air force Base. The limits of South Reach are from the Indialantic Beach to Melbourne Beach South. The beach fill template to be constructed is a berm of varying width at elevations +6.7-ft to +8.2-ft (NAVD-88), with a foreshore slope of 1 vertical on 15 horizontal slope. All construction activity on the beach must be completed before May 1, 2014. The offshore sand borrow area is located approximately 7.6 nm east of Port Canaveral Entrance approximately 20 nm from the South Reach fill area and approximately 10 nm from the North Reach fill area. The borrow area has been previously utilized as a borrow source for sand fill placement along both the North and South Reach project segments. A nearshore disposal and sand rehandling area (NDSRA) is provided at the center of the project fill area, for both North Reach and South Reach, although utilization is at the discretion of the Contractor. The NDSRA may be used from October 1 through April 30. Pipeline corridors are not prescribed for the work; however, no pipelines or other elements of the work may impede navigation through the Canaveral Harbor entrance channel. Beach filling will only be allowed from November 1 through April 30. There is no restriction on the number or kinds of dredges in operation on this project. Project work also includes construction and vibration controls and monitoring, turbidity monitoring, endangered species observer, sea turtle trawling and relocation (for hopper dredges only), and turtle monitoring and nest relocation.
