The project will also repair the washed out foundation of substations "B", "C", and "D" as well as the interior of electrical building S455 including the roof, blown out doors, and damaged electrical systems. Potable Water and Sanitary Sewer 15,740 lf of water and sanitary sewer piping on Trestle 1A, 3A, and 4 and Piers 3A and 4 will be replaced with new piping, insulation and heat trace as shown on the contract drawings. Restrained mechanical joints will also be used and any piping that is damaged beyond repair will be demolished and removed from the site. All risers that are to be replaced will match the original configuration and connection type and size, including cleanliness caps. Replacement will also include any missing or damaged insulation, check valves, valves, backflow preventers, freeze protection devices, gauges, and meters. The damaged areas will be strengthened to resist lateral loads while anchor bolts will be used to anchor the piping supports to the pier. A spider guide type system will be used to limit pipe movement at the guide/support locations. Any spalled concrete will be replaced and grout installed at all supports. All supports shall be constructed of post fabrication hot dipped galvanized steel. Steam Systems This project will replace or repair 4,500 lf of damaged insulation on steam distribution lines at Piers 3A and 4 with molded silica insulation and 0.4 mil aluminum jacket where it was removed. Installation includes anchors and all damaged insulation and aluminum jackets will be removed and disposed of in accordance with proper procedures and regulations. Electrical Systems This project will repair and replace all damaged sections of electrical cables, switchgear, transformers, foundations, and heat trace system conduit and wires from the "A" and "D" shore-side substations to the S-63 switching station. All damaged cable supports and cable straps will be replaced with 4/0 medium voltage armored cable. In addition, this project will replace and repair approximately 3,200 lf of damaged sections of the 4,160 volt cables and conduits from the "E" shore side substation to the trestle substation used for the heat trace system and trestle lights. This project is required to provide steam, water, sanitary sewer, and electrical services to vessels berthed at the ordinance handling piers, as well as the buildings on the piers at NWS Earle.
