Description
The VA Cooperative Studies Program Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center (CSPCRPCC), Albuquerque NM, requires the services of a medical waste company for the pickup, transport and disposal by incineration of unusable drugs that are provided to patients participating in various CSPCRPCC clinical trials. The shipment will include liquid drug products and solid oral drugs as well as excipients and bulk API. Incineration by a regulated medical waste company is the safest and most environmentally friendly disposal method. Disposal by incineration is also specified in the CSPCRPCC Quality Manual as the sole acceptable method of disposal to be used for disposition of unusable drug product. These drugs cannot be opened and must remain on the stealth wrapped pallets until they are picked up at the point of origin. They are to be transported to the destruction facility, at which point they are to be destroyed by incineration only within five working days after arrival at the facility. Destruction facility must comply with all state and federal EPA laws. Contractor shall provide Certificates of Destruction for expired and unusable pharmaceutical drugs and supplies. The Certificate of destruction must be detailed including pallet number, pallet weight and an itemized list of the drugs and/or products from a list that Cooperative Studies program will supply. The contract period of performance shall be for a Base Year (12 months) and four (4) Option Years, in accordance with the following schedule: Base Year4 Pickups per yearEstimated Weight-70,000 lbs Option Year 12 Pickups per yearEstimated weight- 35,000 lbs Option Year 22 Pickups per yearEstimated Weight- 35,000 lbs Option Year 3 2 Pickups per yearEstimated Weight -35,000 lbs Option Year 42 Pickups per yearEstimated Weight- 35,000 lbs Total estimated Weight - 210,000 lbs A formal solicitation will be issued on 23 September 2013, with a closing date of 27 September 2013.
