Description National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) plans to procure on a sole source basis with Molecular Devices, 1311 Orleans Drive, Sunnyvale, Ca 94089 for SpectraMax® 13 Multi-Mode Microplate Detection Platform. The requested microplate reader will substitute two microplate readers currently in use. These were acquired back in 2000. One of these microplate readers is obsolete and no more repair or maintenance service is available from the manufacturer. The microplate reader is an instrument used routinely in our lab for several analysis. SpectraMax® i3 Multi-Mode Microplate Detection Platform. Spectral Absorbance, Fluorescence, and Luminescence detection SoftMax® Pro Software; Compatible with 6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96-, & 384- and/or 1536-well plates. Compatible with SpectraMax® MiniMax® Imaging Cytometer option and/or SpectraDrop Micro-Volume Microplate. Features - Upgradeable to AlphaScreen; Can do 6 - 1536 well plates Has tunable Absorbance, Fluorescence (top and bottom) and Luminescence. There are no need for filters in these modes. Upgradeable to true cellular imaging using a 4x objective lens and CCD camera (not a PMT detector) Compatible with MiniMax Imaging Cytometer Compatible with SoftMax Pro software that can do 4 and 5 paramater curve fitting, Gaussian fit analysis Upgradeable to Fluorescence Polarization Does not require technical support or service in order to upgrade the instrument. User can do it themselves. Uses both LEDs and Xenon Flash Bulb across the entire fluorescence spectrum to ensure the best light source is used. Has a wavelength optimization wizard that will automatically detect and decide the best wavelengths to use Z-Height and fluorescence focus can be both automatically done by the software or manually entered by the user. Is a separate module from the imager. Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm-fixed price type contract.
