Description
This announcement is open to all businesses regardless of size. The Smithsonian Institution will award a firm fixed price multi-year construction contract for this project. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) for is 236220. The Smithsonian Institution (SI) is seeking proposals for all supervision, labor, materials and equipment necessary for HVAC Renovations in the Southeast Main Building, Ground Floor and Mezzanine areas of its National Museum of Natural History located at 10th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20560. The work for this project includes: (1) demolition and new construction of interior walls, ceilings and floors, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, telecom, security, and fire protection systems; (2) construction of a new interstitial floor and installation of LULA elevator; (3) abatement of HAZMAT; (4) Electrical: removal, upgrades, renovations, relocation; (5) removal and replacement of steam condensate receiver, tank, air handling unit, and pumps; (6) resolution of non-code compliant issues; (7) demolition of existing windows and new replacements; (8) procedures and documentation for compliance with LEED criteria and practices; and (9) procedures and documentation related to integrated building commissioning. The mandatory Period of Performance is seven hundred thirty (730) calendar days. This project is on the critical path for another major renovation at the Museum. The Smithsonian Institution is accepting Technical and Cost Proposals in response to the solicitation. A Subcontracting Plan will be required for all large businesses. Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) prior to award. A Pre-Proposal conference will be held at the Museum, 10:00AM, October 9, 2013.
