Description
This project consists of a base and option which includes the renourishment of three segments of the Palm Beach County Shore Protection Project: Ocean Ridge; Delray Beach; and North Boca Raton. Renourishment at North Boca Raton will be accomplished as an optional item. Each beach fill segment will have a constructed beach berm referencing the Construction Baseline (CBL). The offshore borrow area for each segment is directly offshore of the project fill area. Work also includes, but is not limited to, beach tilling, construction/vibration controls and monitoring, turbidity monitoring, sea turtle trawl sweeping and relocation, endangered species observers, sea turtle monitoring or coordination, and beach fill remediation. The three beach fill segments are on a 12 mile Atlantic Barrier Island separated from the mainland by the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW). Land access to each of the project fill segments is by bridges over the Intracoastal Waterway extending from the mainland to the barrier island. The barrier island is bordered by Boca Raton Inlet to the south, and South Lake Worth (Boynton) Inlet to the north, which both provide small vessel access to the Atlantic Ocean.
