Description

Sprint Next Generation Network (NGN) Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS) Development and Deployment, Phase 4 - Implementation The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)/Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) Scott Field Office has issued modification P00054 to contract HC1013-04-C-5003 for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/National Communications System (NCS). The current contract is a limited sole source award to Sprint Communications Company, LP, a GETS Interexchange Carrier (IXC), for a Firm Fixed Price contract. A justification for other than full and open competition that supports this action is attached. The purpose of this J&A is to afford the NCS the opportunity extend Next Generation Network (NGN) GETS/priority service to users accessing the network via Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) originating calls. Continued contractual support for GETS and GETS NGN is essential to provide specially-designed telecommunications services for the National Security and Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP) user community during natural or man-made disasters, when conventional communications services are ineffective. Specifically, GETS and NGN GETS help to coordinate response and recovery efforts, and in severe conditions, assist with Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Continuity of Government (COG).
