Description
The U.S. Department of Education (Department) Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) is awarding a contract to Kratos Technology & Training Solutions, Inc. to provide subject matter expertise and specialized commercial technical support services to assist the Department in continuing its initiative to provide technical assistance to states developing Career Pathway Systems. The Contract has a period of performance from September 27, 2013 through September 26, 2014. It also has two 12-month option periods. This initiative builds on the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL's) "Career Pathways Technical Assistance Initiative" as well as OVAE's recently completed Policy to Performance (adult education). All totaled, these prior federal government investments have directly reached 17 states. This new initiative will build on the successes and lessons learned of the earlier federal government investments and provide additional states and other selected sites access to different tiers of technical assistance. In doing so, this project will assist states in integrating adult education into broader career pathways system development at the state and local levels. By cross-walking and combining the tools developed under OVAE's recently concluded Policy for Performance (adult education), States' Employability Standards in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Education, and DOL's Career Pathways Technical Assistance Initiative, states and other selected sites participating in this new initiative will be offered multiple tiers of technical assistance designed to streamline, expedite, and accelerate implementation of career pathways. The Primary goal of the Technical Assistance for Developing Career Pathways project is to further integrate adult education into broader career pathways systems development at the state and local level by helping states build upon the successes and lessons learned through earlier federal government investments. To achieve this primary goal, the contractor shall meet the following objectives: 1. Manage the project to ensure accountability and successful outcomes; 2. Develop and implement a mult-tiered technical assistance plan designed to further integrate adult education into broader career pathways systems development at the state and local levels; 3. Develop a career pathways affiliate network that supports successful implementation of the technical assistance plan; 4. Organize, coordinate and facilitate subject matter experts (SMEs) that will ensure that the project's activities are well informed; and, 5. Conduct appropriate outreach and dissemination activities.
