Description
On July 25, 2013, a Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued by the National Park Service (NPS) to solicit proposals from the private sector to lease, on a long-term basis, one or more of three historic buildings in Hot Springs National Park - the Maurice, Hale, and Libbey Bathhouses. A fourth historic building is being added to the RFP, and the RFP response date is being extended from January 27, 2014 to February 27, 2014. The Ozark Bathhouse is now available for a long term lease under this RFP. The Maurice, Hale, and Ozark are located on "Bathhouse Row" a National Historic Landmark District that contains the grandest collection of bathhouses of its kind in America. These buildings are arrayed in a continuous row along the main street of the City of Hot Springs, Arkansas, opposite the City's "Main Street" style commercial streetscape. The Libbey is located three blocks east of "Bathhouse Row" on Reserve Street. Built between 1892 and 1923, these historic buildings range in size from approximately 12,000 square feet to over 22,000 square feet. Other buildings located on Bathhouse Row besides the three being offered are: the park's Headquarters Building; the Lamar Bathhouse which serves as NPS office and curatorial space and will serve as the new location of the park's museum store; the Buckstaff Bathhouse, in continuous operation as a traditional bathhouse since 1915 and open to the public under an NPS concession contract; the Quapaw Bathhouse, leased and operated as a modern day spa featuring the hot springs thermal waters; the Superior Bathhouse, leased and operated as a brewery and distillery; and the Fordyce Bathhouse, used as the park visitor center and museum. Parties interested in obtaining an RFP should contact Administrative Officer Betty Spafford by mail at Hot Springs National Park, 101 Reserve Street, Hot Springs, AR 71901 or by phone at 501-620-6722. The response date has been extended to February 27, 2014. Any offer must be received by 4:30 p.m., on February 27, 2014, hand carried, mail or overnight delivery to National Park Service, Midwest Regional Office, 601 Riverfront Drive, Omaha, NE 68102, Attention: Concessions and Leasing Manager.
