Description

Need: The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) (Heinz and University Drive Medical Centers) has a need for repairs to inoperable duress/panic alarm systems. Purpose of Notice: This is a sources-sought request to identify prospective vendors capable of assessing and repairing sophisticated RFID-based duress and patient tracking systems (effectively operating together as a single system) located at two medical centers in Pittsburgh, PA 15240. The Government seeks a creative but complete fix of the system(s), while utilizing as many of the existing system components as possible and while otherwise minimizing costs. Subsequent to repairs, 24/7 annual maintenance options will also be required to keep the system operating properly and to provide responsive repairs and maintenance. System Components/Features: Major system components include slewable cameras, RF readers, wall-mounted displays, servers, badges, software, paging transmitters, routers, and repeaters. System features include precise tracking and alarms for staff duress and patient wandering with tie-in to the VA Police. About This Notice: This notice is not for competitive quotes but rather to identify potential sources capable of meeting the general requirements stated above. Responses should be sent to Contracting Officer jeffrey.greis@va.gov no later than 1600 ET, 10/29/13, and include a brief capability statement, socioeconomic status (i.e., large business, small business, SDVOSB, etc.), FSS schedule (if any), and any other supporting literature. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) number is 561621 with a small business size standard of $12.5 million. No solicitation document is yet available. Information received will be for the sole purpose of determining the method and manner of a competitive procurement. The determination of the method and manner based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
