Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) intends to procure on a sole source basis, the development and delivery of a miniaturized, gun-hardened fiber-optic height-of-burst sensor and height-of-burst sensor subsystem components that does not currently exist and for the integration of this sensor front end into the currently existing Navy Semi-Active Laser Rate Sensor Assembly from Prime Photonics, LC. Prime Photonics, LC is located at 1116 S Main Street, Ste 200, Blacksburg, VA 24060-5548. This procurement is sole sourced based on FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. No other vendors have been identified that have demonstrated the fiber-optic subcomponents necessary to the gun shock levels required to meet the project requirements. Additionally, these sensor types are required to survive and survive properly in the extreme electromagnetic field conditions which exist in an electro-magnetic rail gun for the project requirements. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 541712. The anticipated modification date is 30 November 2013. Questions may be submitted to anson.chonko@navy.mil or call (540) 653-4401. Please reference N00178-11-C-1026 on any correspondence. NSWCDD Procurement Division has implemented Electronic Commerce (EC) in the acquisition area; therefore, this synopsis and any applicable amendments will be available on the World Wide Web at: http://www.nswc.navy.mil/supply. Hard copies WILL NOT be provided. Vendors should regularly access the NSWCDD Web Site to ensure that they have downloaded all amendments.
