- Description
- The Strategic Systems Programs intends to issue a sole source contract to HITCO Carbon Composites, Inc., to procure services to convert AVTEX Rayon Cloth to Carbon Cloth for the TRIDENT II Reentry Body Heatshield. This objective will be accomplished through scouring the Rayon Cloth, converting the Rayon Cloth to Carbon Cloth, testing, and storing the purified Carbon Cloth. HITCO is the sole supplier of carbon-phenolic heatshields for the Navy’s Mk4 and Mk5 reentry bodies for the TRIDENT II. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, all responses received within fifteen days of the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Response date for this pre-solicitation notice is 20 Nov 2013. Due to a security interface issue with the FBO website, the response date could not be uploaded into the designated response date block.
