This project includes the following: A new thrust collar and a new one-piece thrust runner shall be furnished by the Contractor. The thrust runner and thrust collar shall be final machined together with a mandrel (dummy shaft) to mimic the existing shaft. The Contractor shall site measure the shaft to provide the appropriate interference fit for the mandrel. Note that final tolerances for the thrust collar and thrust runner are very tight. The new thrust runner shall conform to ASTM A 36/A 36M, vacuum degassed, hot rolled or forged, unless otherwise accepted. The new thrust collar thickness of plates is anticipated to increase in order to alleviate cracking discovered; material shall be ASTM A36. All welds will be full penetration, 100% NDT of phase array and traditional UT and MT. The thrust collar and the thrust runner shall be final machined together with a mandrel (dummy shaft) to mimic the existing shaft. The existing spring bed for Unit 11 shall be shipped out and re-machined flat, removing no more than 0.010 inches unless otherwise approved. Any material removal from the existing spring bed shall be added onto the thrust runner/collar assembly. A site visit will be held at the Bonneville Lock and Dam on Thursday, 7 November 2013 beginning at 9:30 AM. Offerors are urged to attend. Contractors planning to attend shall email Mr. Mike Adams at Michael.D.Adams@usace.army.mil and indicate company name, the names of each individual who will attend, and whether each attendee is a U.S. citizen.
