- Description
- NASA Marshall Spaceflight Center in Huntsville, AL solicits interest from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market the following technology. License rights may be issued on an exclusive or nonexclusive basis and may include specific fields of use.
THE TECHNOLOGY:
Originally developed by NASA as a high-performance piston alloy to meet U.S. legislative restrictions on vehicular exhaust hydrocarbon emissions, NASA 398 aluminum alloy exhibits excellent tensile and fatigue strength at elevated temperatures. NASA 398 alloy also offers superior wear resistance, surface hardness, dimensional stability, and lower thermal expansion compared to conventional aluminum alloys. NASA 398 has been used in mass production and has enabled award-winning and innovative commercial products, and the NASA Marshall Technology Transfer Office is seeking new licensees that may also benefit from its adoption..
To express interest in this opportunity, please respond to Jonas Hall, Research Triangle International (RTI), at E-mail: jonashall@rti.org, or phone: 919.541.7427. Please indicate the date and title of the FBO notice and include your company and contact information. For more information about licensing other NASA-developed technologies, please visit the NASA Technology Transfer Portal at http:// http://techtran.msfc.nasa.gov/index.php.
RTI is responsible for aggregating and acknowledging all responses. These responses are provided to members of NASA Marshalls Technology Transfer Office for the purpose of promoting public awareness of NASA-developed technology products, and conducting preliminary market research to determine public interest in and potential for future licensing opportunities. If direct licensing interest results from this posting, the Technology Transfer Office will follow the required formal licensing process of posting in the Federal Register. No follow-on procurement is expected to result from responses to this Notice.
