- This is a Market Research, Sources Sought for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. No contract will be awarded as a result of this sources sought. No reimbursement will be made for any cost associated with providing information in response to this notice. The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) is soliciting on behalf of U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM), information from potential qualified businesses. USARIEM is seeking Small Business sources that have knowledge and capabilities for non-personal services to provide Scientific and Technical Support Services. Background and Description of Required Work: The mission of the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM), Natick, MA, is to protect, sustain and maximize the health and performance of individual military personnel, crews and troop populations. USARIEM requires services in support of the research protocol entitled quote mark Control of muscle development by of phosphoinositide 3-OH lipid kinase beta in cultured cells and mice (Mus musculus); (USARIEM #11-11-AEZ) quote mark. This research study is in direct support of Task Area S - quote mark Physiological Mechanisms of Musculoskeletal Injury. quote mark The aim of the research study is to determine the contribution of phosphoinositide 3-OH lipid kinase beta ( quote mark p110 quote mark ) to skeletal muscle development using both cell-based and animal models. Cell culture models have been developed during the course of this research and have provided significant insight into the role of p110 in skeletal muscle formation. It is necessary however, to establish whether findings in cell-based models are faithfully recapitulated in living animals. The services will include age-matched male mice will be transferred to in vivo laboratory from a custom breeding colony established at the contractor's laboratory, weighing mice, DEXA Scan, Glucose and insulin tolerance. This is not an all inclusive list, but one to indicate the areas of work that will be required Interested parties shall submit a Technical Capability Statement that clearly addresses their corporate capabilities. All proprietary information should be marked as such. Responses will be held confidential if requested. The capability statement is not to exceed 3 pages and shall at a minimum address the following: (1) Name of Company; (2) Company Address; (3) Point of Contact Information: Name, Telephone number and Email address; (4)Company Size: The government is seeking vendors from the following Socio Economic Status: 100% Small Business, NAICS 541712 (5) Address whether the services identified in the requirement described above are of a type offered and sold competitively in the commercial marketplace based on market prices or whether these services are exclusively provided to the Government; (6) If commercially available, identify standard commercial terms and conditions typically associated with these services; (7) Describe experience and past performance with similar types of requirements of similar scope and magnitude and whether they were performed performance-based and include the contract number, Government agency name and address and contract funded amount; This synopsis is for information planning purposes only and is not a commitment by the Government. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and a contract will not be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement and any follow-up information requests. Each response must reference the sources sought title. This market research is for a new work effort. Respondents submitting a capability statement must do so by email on 15 November 2013.
