- Specification Sheet #1 dated 3-10-2010. This announcement serves as a Sources Sought Notice issued for the purpose of market research in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10. This Sources Sought Notice is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation nor is this notice a Request for Proposals (RFP). DLA Troop Support is NOT requesting a quote or proposal in response to this notice. This notice should not be construed as a commitment by DLA Troop Support for any purpose. The Government does not intend to pay for information furnished pursuant to this sources sought notice. The purpose for this Sources Sought Notice is to conduct market research to identify parties having an interest in, and the resources to support this requirement. For the purpose of this acquisition, the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 339115 - Ophthalmic Goods Manufacturing and the applicable size standard is 500 employees. DLA Troop Support seeks your expression of interest and any suggestion regarding DLA Troop Support's desire to establish supply support of the Aviation Aircrew Frame (AFF). The AFF series of frames are the only spectacles authorized for wear by USAF aircrew for flying duties. The authorized AFF series includes three frame styles (AFF-OP, AFF-DR, AFF-JS), three sizes (small, medium, large), two finishes (antireflective matte black, bright gold), and three temple options (bayonet, skull, comfort cable) to optimize aircrew fitting and comfort. Aircrew spectacle frame policy is incorporated into AFI 48-123 (Medical Examination and Standards, 24 Sep 2009) and AFI 11-202 Vol3 (General Flight Rules, 5 Apr 2006), as well as field policy letters to all major commands. The AFF series frames provide a true eye safety frame, compliant with existing ANSI Z87.1 safety standards. Reference Documents: SPECIFICATION SHEET NO. 1, DATED 10 MARCH 2010, attached.
