- Description
- This is a sources sought announcement only. There is no solicitation available at this time. Requests for a solicitation will not receive a response. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 335999. Contractors must identify their business type (i.e., large, small, small and disadvantaged, 8(a) certified, woman-owned small, HUB Zone certified small, or service disabled veteran-owned small business) in their response. The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), Command, Power, and Integration Directorate (CP&I) is requesting information regarding emerging technologies to enable soldier's systems to utilize modern Human-Machine interfaces, many variations of which are already available in the commercial/gaming market. Current keyboard and mouse input are not suitable when soldiers are forced to operate in vibration and noise challenged environments while on the move by foot or in a tactical vehicle. Alternate Human-machine interface modalities including, but not limited to, Conversational Speech, Haptic/Touch input, Gestures, Device Motion, Eye Movement, and Brain Waves can be potentially leveraged to overcome this challenge. CERDEC also has interest in identifying multimodal technologies, as well. This sources sought notice is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation for bids/proposals. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this sources sought announcement. Responses will assist the Government in determining potential responsible sources and to determine the technical capability of the domestic production base. All respondents are required to complete the System for Award Management (SAM) process to be considered eligible for any potential Department of Defense contracts. SAM registration information can be obtained at http://www.sam.gov/. Respondents may submit their interest and ability to satisfy the Government's requirement to the point of contact listed below. Responses must be no longer than three (3) pages in length and should include a description of capabilities, technical expertise, and relevant past experience. Submit responses via email: Tan Truong at tan.n.truong.civ@mail.mil within fifteen (15) calendar days of publication of this announcement.
