Description
Modification 0001 is being issued to answer questions received concerning the subject synopsis. All other information remains the same. Questions regarding this notice may be directed to phone number 540-653-7077 and reference RFQ N00178-14-Q-4086. This requirement shall close on 6 December 2013, time 12:00 p.m. Responses may be faxed to 540-653-0592 or emailed to: dora.fauntleroy@navy.mil. Question 1: What is the anticipated tensile strength of the material? Answer 1: 1040 MPa and 1220 MPa (ultimate) Question 2: What material or substance are the fasteners made of? Are all fasteners made from the same material? Can you provide the chemical composition of the material(s) or alloy(s)? Answer 2: Carbon Steel ASTM F 568M (class 10.9), 0.25-0.55 Carbon, 0.048 max Phosphorus, 0.058 max Sulfur, and ASTM F 835M, 0.28-0.55 Carbon, 0.040 max Phosphorus, 0.045 max Sulfur Question 3: Section 3.1.5 lists the data and results expected as part of the final testing report. Specimen photographs, before and after testing, are to be provided. Are there any special requirements for the pictures? Answer 3: Pictures should depict the pretest condition of the machined specimen, noting any defects in the test area. Posttest pictures should capture location of point of failure. Question 4: Does NSWC Dahlgren want the specimens returned with the report? Answer 4: Return of the specimen is not required. Question 5: Does NSWC want both a hard copy report as well as a digital one? Answer 5: Digital copies are all that is required. Question 6: Does NSWC desire a post-testing briefing on-site at Dahlgren as part of the deliverables? Or at the successful bidder's facility? Answer 6: An onsite posttest briefing is not required. A teleconference to discuss results would be useful, but is not required at the moment.
