Description

The aim of the project is to integrate CAM services throughout our medical center and outpatient clinics. This would be accomplished by training staff in the practice of mindfulness so that they in turn can educate and train Veterans. The target population for attendance of the mindfulness training will be nursing staff, mental health clinicians, and dieticians from the medical center and outpatient clinics. We have located a premier training site for mindfulness, the vendor will need to bring their training program to our facility. The trainer(s) would need to travel to the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Upon our commitment to their training program, the vendor will apply for Continuing Education credits to be provided to participants. Objectives of the project include: 1) Increase the number of staff trained in mindfulness; 2) Increase job satisfaction for clinicians; 3) Increase the number of Veterans who receive information about mindfulness; 4) Improve level of mindfulness within group participants of six-session group.
